What Was Involved In The Study?

A project of this scale required many carefully coordinated steps. Among them, CDOT:

  • Surveyed the area
  • Tested the soil to ensure it can support structural and roadway design features
  • Assessed how the proposed improvement will affect the environment
  • Assessed what problems the proposed improvement must solve
  • Evaluated alternative remedies and developed a preferred choice for the project
  • Evaluated any bridge and retaining wall plans and developed one option for further consideration
  • Reviewed the area’s accident history and assessed how to make the area safer
  • Analyzed traffic operation and evaluated recommendations for designs
  • Evaluated how proposed improvements would affect the environment and studied recommendations to prevent or reduce any harmful effects.
  • Prepared a Draft Project Development Report
  • Met with community advisory groups and the general public to discuss preliminary findings
  • Addressed community feedback and created the Final Project Development Report
